-Videos started to become an artistic medium since the late 1960s although the programs on television were available to public in the 40s and 50s in Europe and US.
-Video is different from film and television in a way that it "directly translates the audio-visual material into analogue or digital code" meaning recording and storage happen at the same time.
Also videos can be easily manipulated and changed unlike film.
- Development in the 60s: Developed the ideas from Pollock's performative painting, John Cage, etc. performance in art. At the end of 60s, artists wanted to reach a mass audience of consumers, connect art and life on a media level.
